Partial and Complete Dentures

A Reliable and Affordable Way to Restore Your Smile

Replacing missing teeth with dentures is a fairly straightforward process. Whether you need a partial or complete denture, we start with a digital scan to capture the exact shape and contours of your mouth. From there, we design a realistic prosthetic that will fit perfectly, all while minimizing chair time and adjustments.

Preperation

We always start with a thorough evaluation of your oral health and a discussion about which type of denture—partial or complete—is best for your needs.

  • Partial dentures are ideal if you’re missing several teeth but still have healthy natural teeth remaining.
  • Complete dentures are used when all teeth in an arch (top, bottom, or both) are missing or need to be removed.

Using our digital scanner, we create an accurate 3D model of your mouth to ensure a snug, precise fit and natural appearance.

Procedure

Once your scans are complete, we work closely with our dental lab to create your custom prosthetic. The denture base is designed to rest comfortably on your gums and/or existing teeth, while the replacement teeth are shaped and shaded to match your natural smile.

For complete dentures, there may be an adjustment period as your gums heal after any necessary extractions. In some cases, immediate dentures can be placed the same day to maintain function and appearance while your final set is being prepared.

When your dentures are ready, we’ll make any necessary adjustments to ensure they look and feel just right.

Caring for Your Dentures

Dentures are removable and should be cleaned daily to maintain oral hygiene and prevent staining or buildup. Be sure to:

  • Rinse and brush your dentures with a soft denture brush
  • Remove them overnight to allow your gums to rest
  • Soak them in a dentist-approved cleaning solution while not in use

It’s also important to continue regular dental visits so we can monitor the health of your gums and ensure your dentures continue to fit well over time.

Other Considerations for Dentures

While dentures are a cost-effective solution, they do have some limitations compared to fixed restorations like implants. They may require periodic adjustments or relining due to natural changes in your gum and bone structure over time.

That said, modern dentures are more comfortable and natural-looking than ever before—especially when designed using digital scanning and imaging technology, as we do at Buffalo Dental.

When to Consider Implant-Supported Dentures

If you’re looking for a more secure alternative to traditional removable dentures, implant-supported dentures may be the right option for you. These combine the benefits of ordinary dentures with the stability of dental implants.

The process is the same as ordinary dentures, with the added step of placing small titanium implants in the jaw to anchor the denture in place. This added support can help reduce slipping, improve chewing ability, and minimize bone loss over time.

Our team can walk you through the pros and cons of this option and help determine if implant-supported dentures are a good fit for your needs.
