Preventive Care and Dental Cleanings
The Importance of Regular Hygiene Visits
Even with excellent at-home brushing and flossing, professional cleanings are essential. Bacteria and tartar can build up in areas your toothbrush can’t reach. Regular cleanings allow us to catch dental issues early, prevent gum disease and tooth decay, monitor changes in your dental health, and keep your smile looking great.
What to Expect
Routine Dental Exam and Cleaning
Preventive visits are the foundation of a healthy smile. Here’s what you can expect during a routine dental cleaning and check-up at Buffalo Dental:
Comprehensive Evaluation
Each visit begins with a full evaluation of your current dental health. This may include taking X-rays or other imaging to assess the health of your teeth, gums, and underlying bone structure. Your dentist will also examine your mouth for signs of cavities, gum disease, or other developing issues.
Professional Cleaning
One of our skilled dental hygienists will perform a thorough cleaning to remove plaque, tartar, and debris from the surfaces of your teeth and beneath the gum line. We use advanced instruments to gently clean hard-to-reach areas and polish your teeth for a smooth, refreshed finish. We will then apply fluoride to help protect your teeth once you leave the office.
This process not only leaves your teeth looking and feeling great but also significantly reduces your risk of cavities and gum disease.
Personalized Care Recommendations
After your cleaning, your dentist will review any findings with the hygienist and discuss recommendations. Whether it’s adjusting your home care routine, watching a specific tooth, or scheduling additional treatments, our goal is to keep your oral health on track.
Protect Your Smile with Routine Hygiene Appointments
The American Dental Association recommends visiting the dentist every six months for preventive care. At Buffalo Dental, we make these visits comfortable, informative, and personalized to your needs. Whether it’s your first cleaning in a while or you’re staying on a regular schedule, our team is here to support your long-term oral health.
